Resort History

Lost Valley Resort was established in 1961 after being built by Ralph & Wilma Richter. The land the resort is located on was once pastureland. After 29 years of the resort business Ralph and Wilma decided to retire. The resort was then purchased by their son and his wife, Ron & Tammy Richter. They have now owned and operated the resort for 33 years themselves. They have also raised two children in the resort business, Jamie and Cody. Hopefully someday one or both of them will decide to continue the tradition.

One of the special things that Lost Valley has created throughout the years, is a family tradition for many. We have many of the same families, in the same cabin, the same week every year. This has allowed for everyone to get to know each other and become good friends that can reconnect year after year. Their children and our children have grown up with each other. Now our grandchildren are growing up with theirs. This has resulted in many lifetime friendships and even a few marriages.

UPDATE: The time has come for the 3rd generation to take over the resort. Ron & Tammy have decided to step down after 33 years in the resort business. We have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know each and every one of you. We feel that we have become one big family and hope to continue that relationship with all of you. Thank you for letting us provide your vacations to you for 33 years. Jamie (Matt) & Cody (Shelby) will begin their first resort season in May 2023. We will be able to help them with the transition to make it easier for them to learn all of the aspects of the business. Being the younger generation, I am sure you will see a few changes for the better, to catch up with the times. They will be limiting the store hours, so that they will have more time to devote to their families.

I am sure we will see all of you during your stay, whether it be at the resort or on the lake fishing. We look forward to having time during the summer months to do those things we were limited to, with running the business.
